Jayadratha
Who Jayadratha is
Jayadratha, king of the Sindhus, was married to Duhshala, the only daughter of Dhritarashtra and Gandhari. The Vana Parva tells how he tried to carry Draupadi away during the exile and was captured and then released by the Pandavas, after which he performed austerities and received a boon to hold back four of the Pandavas, though not Arjuna, for a single day. On the thirteenth day at Kurukshetra he used that boon to seal the breach in Drona's wheel formation, and Arjuna slew him before sunset on the following day.
“For one day, no one passes this gate. Let us see if you can find a way through.”
How Jayadratha plays chess
A defender who closes every door, building locked pawn chains and waiting for the attacker to exhaust himself against the gate.
The Fortress: Guards its king above all, keeps a healthy pawn wall, and is content to trade down.
Opening repertoire: French Defence, Advance Variation · Philidor Defence
Jayadratha's trial lies beyond the Level 30 gate, but you can play Jayadratha any time in free play.
