Shukracharya
Who Shukracharya is
Shukracharya, son of the sage Bhrigu, was the teacher of the asuras and the master of the Mritasanjivani, the knowledge that could bring the dead back to life — which made the asuras hard to defeat. The gods sent Kacha, son of their teacher Brihaspati, to learn it from him. He was father of Devayani and cursed King Yayati with old age. When Mahabali promised three paces of land to the dwarf Vamana, Shukra warned him against it, and the Bhagavata says he lost an eye trying to stop the gift.
“I can bring the fallen back to life. Your captures will not last.”
