Who Suruchi is

Suruchi was the favoured queen of King Uttanapada and mother of his son Uttama. When the young Dhruva, son of the neglected queen Suniti, tried to climb onto his father's lap, Suruchi pulled him away and told him that if he wanted that seat he should pray to be born from her own womb. Stung, the five-year-old Dhruva left for the forest to pray to Vishnu, and his devotion won him a place as the Pole Star. Suruchi later died in a forest fire while searching for her son Uttama.

“The best places here are spoken for. Find another seat.”
