Who Dhumraksha is
Dhumraksha, the smoke-eyed, was the first great rakshasa champion sent out by Ravana against the vanara army besieging Lanka. Ill omens surrounded his departure, yet he fought fiercely at the western gate and scattered many vanaras before Hanuman met him. Hanuman hurled a great boulder that shattered his chariot and then killed him with a mountain peak, and the rakshasa army fled back into the city.
“Can you see through the smoke? Most cannot.”
