Who Hiranyaksha is

Hiranyaksha, the golden-eyed, was the twin brother of Hiranyakashipu, born to the sage Kashyapa and Diti. Made proud by his strength and boons, he roamed the three worlds seeking an equal to fight, and dragged the Earth down into the depths of the cosmic ocean. In the Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu descended as the great boar Varaha, raised the Earth on his tusks and slew Hiranyaksha in a long and terrible duel.

“I have searched the three worlds for an equal. Are you the one?”
