Jarasandha
Who Jarasandha is
Jarasandha, king of Magadha, was born in two halves to the twin queens of King Brihadratha and was joined into one by the rakshasi Jara, from whom he took his name. A mighty emperor and wrestler, he attacked Mathura again and again and held many kings captive at his capital, Girivraja. Before the Rajasuya, Bhima challenged him to single combat, and the Sabha Parva says they wrestled without food or rest for thirteen days and nights, until Jarasandha tired on the fourteenth night and Bhima prevailed.
“In Magadha we settle matters hand to hand. Step into the ring.”
