Mayasura
Who Mayasura is
Maya, the great architect of the danavas, was spared by Arjuna when the Khandava forest burned, and in gratitude built for the Pandavas a wondrous assembly hall at Indraprastha, where floors looked like water and water looked like floor. He also brought Bhima a mighty mace and Arjuna the conch Devadatta. The Ramayana names him as the father of Mandodari and as the builder of a golden cave-palace that the vanaras discovered in the south.
“In my hall, the floor may be water and the water may be floor. Tread carefully.”
