Who Kaliya is
Kaliya was a many-headed serpent who, fleeing Garuda, made his home in a deep pool of the Yamuna in Vrindavana and poisoned its waters, so that cattle and birds died on its banks. The boy Krishna leapt into the pool, was caught in the serpent's coils, then broke free and danced upon his hoods until Kaliya was exhausted. At the pleading of Kaliya's wives Krishna spared him and sent him away to the island of Ramanaka, and the river ran pure again.
“My waters are poisoned. Enter them if you dare.”
