Who Kunti is

Born Pritha, daughter of the Yadava Shura, Kunti was raised by King Kuntibhoja; for serving the sage Durvasa faithfully she received a mantra to call upon the gods. Through it she bore Karna before her marriage and, as the Vana Parva tells, set him afloat on the river Ashva; later, as Pandu's queen, bore Yudhishthira, Bhima and Arjuna, sharing the mantra so that Madri could bear Nakula and Sahadeva. Widowed early, she brought all five through exile and danger, and in old age chose to follow Dhritarashtra and Gandhari into the forest.

“I have walked through fire and exile with my children. A hard game does not frighten me.”
