Mudgala
Who Mudgala is
Mudgala was a sage of Kurukshetra who lived by gleaning grains left in the fields, and on every new and full moon shared his small store with guests. The irascible sage Durvasa came six times and ate everything, yet Mudgala never lost his calm. A messenger of the gods came to take him to heaven in his body; Mudgala first asked what heaven was like, and learning that its joys end when merit is spent, and that there is rivalry and envy even there, he declined, and devoted himself to seeking the lasting liberation.
“I need little, and I share what I have. Shall we play?”
