Who Renuka is

Renuka was the wife of the sage Jamadagni and mother of Parashurama. The Mahabharata tells that one day, fetching water at the river, she saw a king sporting with his queens and lingered a moment in longing. Jamadagni, perceiving it, ordered his sons to kill her; only the youngest, Parashurama, obeyed. Pleased with his obedience, Jamadagni offered him a boon, and Parashurama asked that his mother be restored to life with no memory of what had happened. She is honoured as a goddess in many parts of India.

“I have fallen and risen again. A lost pawn will not trouble me.”
