Shankhachuda
Who Shankhachuda is
Shankhachuda was a mighty asura king, husband of the devoted Tulasi, who wore an amulet given by Vishnu and was protected by the chastity of his wife. He drove the gods from their realms, and when Shiva came to restore them, the two fought for a long time without result. Only when Shankhachuda's amulet and Tulasi's protection were lost could Shiva strike him down with his trident; his bones, the Purana says, became the sacred conches used in worship.
“Two protections guard me. Neither has ever failed.”
