Sharabhanga
Who Sharabhanga is
Sharabhanga was an aged sage of the Dandaka forest. When Rama came to his hermitage, he found Indra himself there in his chariot, come to carry the sage to the highest heaven. Sharabhanga had declined to go until he had seen Rama. Having met Rama and directed him to the sage Sutikshna, he kindled a fire, entered it, and rose from it in a youthful, radiant form to the world of Brahma.
“I have declined heaven to wait for this moment. Let us not rush it.”
