Shuka
Who Shuka is
Shuka, son of the sage Vyasa, was born free of all attachment and wandered the world as a young renunciate. When King Parikshit, grandson of Arjuna, was cursed to die in seven days and sat fasting on the bank of the Ganga, Shuka came to him. Over those seven days he narrated to the king the whole of the Bhagavata Purana, the stories of Vishnu and his devotees, so that Parikshit met his death in peace.
“I have nothing to gain and nothing to lose. Let us simply play.”
