Susharma
Who Susharma is
Susharma, king of Trigarta, was an ally of Duryodhana and an old enemy of Matsya. In the Virata Parva he led the raid on King Virata's cattle from the south and took Virata captive, until the disguised Bhima overpowered him and set Virata free, and Yudhishthira let him go. At Kurukshetra he and his brothers took the samshaptaka vow before the sacred fire, swearing to slay Arjuna or die, and drew Arjuna away to fight them day after day (Drona Parva); Susharma fell to Arjuna on the last day of the war (Shalya Parva).
“My brothers and I swore an oath before the sacred fire: we do not turn back. Neither will I here.”
