Tarakasura
Who Tarakasura is
Tarakasura performed such severe austerities that Brahma granted him a boon: he could be slain only by a son of Shiva. Since Shiva, grieving for Sati, sat in deep meditation with no thought of marriage, Taraka believed himself immortal and overran heaven. Parvati's long penance won Shiva's hand, and their son Kartikeya, born to lead the army of the gods, slew Taraka in battle.
“Only one can defeat me, and he has not yet been born. You are not he.”
