Who Uddhava is

Uddhava was a counsellor of the Vrishnis, a disciple of Brihaspati in learning, and one of Krishna's closest friends. The Bhagavata Purana tells how he carried Krishna's message to the people of Vraja and was humbled by the depth of their devotion, and how, near the end of the Yadava age, he received the long teaching known as the Uddhava Gita. Instructed to go to Badarikashrama, he left Dvaraka to devote his life to contemplation.

“I have given counsel to kings. Today I will give it to the pieces, and they will listen.”
