Akrura
Who Akrura is
Akrura, son of Shvaphalka and a respected elder of the Yadavas, was sent by Kamsa to bring Krishna and Balarama from Vraja to Mathura. The Bhagavata Purana describes the deep joy of his journey and how, bathing in the Yamuna on the way back, he beheld the Lord within the waters. He later served as an envoy to Hastinapura and became the keeper of the Syamantaka jewel.
“I have learned that what lies beneath still water is deeper than it seems. So it is with this board.”
