Who Uttanapada is
Uttanapada, son of Svayambhuva Manu, was a king with two queens: Suniti, mother of Dhruva, and his favourite Suruchi, mother of Uttama. When Suruchi pulled the young Dhruva from his lap, the king said nothing, and the boy left for the forest to pray. Uttanapada was soon filled with remorse for having neglected his son; when Dhruva returned, blessed by Vishnu, his father welcomed him with joy and later crowned him king before retiring to the forest.
“I have not always chosen well. Let us see how I choose today.”
