Ashtavakra
Who Ashtavakra is
Ashtavakra was born bent in eight places, for while still in his mother's womb he had corrected his father Kahoda's recitation of the Vedas eight times, and his angry father cursed him. When Kahoda was defeated in debate at King Janaka's court by the scholar Vandin and drowned, the twelve-year-old Ashtavakra went to the court, silenced those who laughed at his body, defeated Vandin, and won his father's return. His dialogue with Janaka on the nature of the Self is the Ashtavakra Gita.
“Do not judge my moves by how they look. Judge them by what they do.”
