Bharata Dauhshanti
Who Bharata Dauhshanti is
Bharata, son of Dushyanta and Shakuntala, was raised in the hermitage of Kanva, where as a small boy he played with lion cubs, holding their jaws open to count their teeth — and so he was called Sarvadamana, the subduer of all. Acknowledged at last by his father, he grew into a mighty emperor who performed great sacrifices and ruled all the land. India is called Bharata, or Bharatavarsha, after him, and the Kurus and Pandavas were his descendants.
“As a child I counted the teeth of lions. I am not afraid of your pieces.”
