Who Chanda is
Chanda and his comrade Munda were generals of the asura king Shumbha, sent with a great army to seize the Goddess on the Himalaya. As they approached with weapons raised, Kali sprang from the Goddess's furrowed brow, terrible to behold. She devoured their army, caught Chanda by the hair and struck off his head, and slew Munda too; and for this deed the Goddess named her Chamunda.
“I march first and strike first. Stand aside.”
