Chitrangada of Hastinapura
Who Chitrangada of Hastinapura is
Chitrangada was the elder son of King Shantanu and Satyavati and became king of Hastinapura after his father's death, with Bhishma at his side. Proud of his strength, he looked down on other kings, gods and men alike. A gandharva king who bore the same name challenged him, saying that only one of them could bear it; they fought for three years on the field of Kurukshetra by the river Hiranvati, and the gandharva, mightier in sorcery, killed him.
“Only one of us can carry this name. Let the board decide.”
