Who Dhruva is
Dhruva was the son of King Uttanapada and Queen Suniti; when his stepmother Suruchi turned him away from his father’s lap, the five-year-old left home resolved to win a place no one could take from him. Guided by the sage Narada in the Bhagavata (by the seven sages in the Vishnu Purana), he undertook intense austerities at Madhuvana on the Yamuna until Vishnu appeared to him. He later ruled justly for many years and was granted the fixed place in the heavens that bears his name, the pole star.
“I was only five when I set out. Determination does not wait to grow up.”
How Dhruva plays chess
Builds an immovable setup and holds it with childlike, unbreakable resolve, letting the rest of the board turn around him.
The Fortress: Guards its king above all, keeps a healthy pawn wall, and is content to trade down.
Opening repertoire: London System · Stonewall Attack
Defeat Dhruva in a full game from the normal starting position to earn the achievement The Unmoving Star and open the way to the next guardian.
