Who Guha is
Guha, king of the Nishadas at Shringaverapura, was a dear friend of Rama and welcomed him with gifts when he came into exile, then arranged the boat that carried Rama, Sita and Lakshmana across the Ganga. When Bharata later arrived with an army, Guha readied his people to guard the river crossing, fearing Bharata meant harm. Once he understood Bharata’s devotion, he welcomed him warmly and guided him onward.
“No one crosses the Ganga at Shringaverapura without my knowing it. State your purpose with your moves.”
