Nachiketa
Who Nachiketa is
When his father Vajashravasa gave away worn-out cows at a sacrifice, young Nachiketa asked to whom he himself would be given, and his father answered, "To Death." Nachiketa went to the house of Yama and waited three nights without food, so Yama offered him three boons. He asked for his father’s peace, for the fire ritual that came to bear his name, and for the truth of what lies beyond death — refusing wealth, long life and every pleasure Yama offered in its place.
“I waited three nights at Death’s door for an answer. I can wait a few moves for yours.”
