Who Jatayu is
Jatayu, son of Aruna and an old friend of King Dasharatha, met Rama at Panchavati and promised to watch over Sita. When Ravana carried Sita away, the aged vulture king rose to stop him and fought with all his strength until his wings were cut and he fell. He lived long enough to tell Rama what had happened, and Rama performed his funeral rites himself, as for a father.
“I am old, but I gave my word to guard this place. You will have to go through me.”
How Jatayu plays chess
Throws himself into the fight against a stronger foe with fearless counterattacks, giving up material without hesitation to defend what he has promised to protect.
The Storm: Throws everything at your king, values activity over pawns, and hates a quiet draw.
Opening repertoire: Ruy Lopez, Schliemann Defence · Albin Countergambit
Defeat Jatayu in a full game from the normal starting position to earn the achievement Last Flight of Jatayu and open the way to the next guardian.
