Who Kabandha is
Kabandha was a monstrous rakshasa with no head, a single eye in his chest and a mouth in his belly, whose arms reached a league to seize any creature that came near. He caught Rama and Lakshmana as they searched for Sita, and the brothers cut off his arms. Dying, he told them he had been a gandharva cursed for his pride, and asked them to cremate him; rising from the fire in his true radiant form, he advised them to seek the vanara Sugriva at the lake of Pampa.
“My arms reach for a league. Come within them.”
