Kanva
Who Kanva is
Kanva was a sage of the Kashyapa line whose hermitage stood on the banks of the river Malini. He found the infant Shakuntala sheltered by birds where her mother Menaka had left her, and raised her as his own daughter. When she married King Dushyanta and was with child, Kanva blessed the union and sent her to the king's court; Kalidasa's drama makes his tender farewell to her one of the most moving scenes in Sanskrit literature.
“I send my pieces into the world well prepared. Let us see how they fare.”
