Who Lava is
Lava and his twin brother Kusha were born to Sita in the hermitage of the sage Valmiki after she had been sent away from Ayodhya. Valmiki raised them and taught them the Ramayana, which they sang before Rama himself at his great horse sacrifice, so that he learned they were his sons. Later tradition tells how the boys captured the sacrificial horse and held off Rama's army. After Rama's reign, Lava ruled the northern kingdom of Shravasti.
“My brother and I fear no army. Shall we see if you are the exception?”
