Who Makaraksha is
Makaraksha, son of Khara, asked Ravana for leave to go out against Rama to avenge his father, whom Rama had slain at Janasthana. He rode into battle boasting that he would repay his father's death, and fought Rama with arrows and then a flaming spear. Rama cut his spear to pieces in mid-air and then struck him down with the fire weapon.
“You remind me of the one who slew my father. Today I settle that debt.”
