Who Parikshit is

Parikshit, son of Abhimanyu and Uttara, was born lifeless after Ashvatthama’s weapon struck the Pandava line and was restored to life by Krishna; he later inherited the throne of Hastinapura. After he slighted the silent sage Shamika, the sage’s son cursed him to die of the serpent Takshaka’s bite within seven days. The Bhagavata Purana tells that he spent those last days fasting on the bank of the Ganga, listening to the sage Shuka recite the Bhagavata.

“I was told I had seven days. I have learned to use every moment well.”

How Parikshit plays chess

Plays calmly and deliberately, as one who knows the clock is running, making every remaining move count.

The Grinder: Trades pieces gladly and squeezes the smallest edge in a long endgame.
