Who Rukmi is

Rukmi, eldest son of King Bhishmaka of Vidarbha, was a renowned archer; the Udyoga Parva calls him a pupil of Druma and the holder of Vijaya, counted with Gandiva and Sharnga among the great bows. The Bhagavata Purana and the Harivamsha tell how he opposed his sister Rukmini's marriage to Krishna, pursued them when she was carried away, and was defeated but spared at her plea; having vowed not to return to Kundina without her, he founded the city of Bhojakata instead. Before Kurukshetra he came with a full army to offer his help to the Pandavas and then to the Kauravas, but spoke so proudly that both declined, and he took no part in the war.

“I hold Vijaya, one of the great bows of the world. I offered it to both armies; today I offer it to you.”
