Sarama
Who Sarama is
Sarama was a kind rakshasi in Lanka who befriended Sita in the Ashoka grove; later tradition makes her the wife of Vibhishana. When Ravana showed Sita a conjured head made to look like Rama's, to break her spirit, Sarama comforted her, told her it was an illusion of sorcery, and assured her that Rama's army had crossed the sea. She went secretly to overhear Ravana's councils and brought Sita news of all that was planned.
“Do not be afraid. Much of what you will see here is only illusion.”
