Who Urmila is
Urmila, daughter of King Janaka and younger sister of Sita, was married to Lakshmana at the same ceremony in which Sita married Rama. When Lakshmana followed Rama into exile, Urmila stayed behind in Ayodhya for fourteen years. Later tradition tells that she took on Lakshmana's sleep so that he could guard Rama and Sita without rest, and her quiet sacrifice is honoured in many retellings of the Ramayana.
“Some battles are fought in silence. Mine was.”
